It's been raining a lot here over the last two weeks, to the point where there's flooding to levels not seen in 90 years. I think it's because of the tsunami. Before you blow me off as being totally insane, let me explain a bit. The tsunami dumped a massive amount of water onto a lot of land, and while a lot of it drained back into the ocean, a lot just sat on the ground and is evaporating. That water vapor has to go somewhere, and I think that even if it rained out slightly east of where the tsunami hit, that still ramps up the water cycle. Water flows downhill, and I think that the water cycle would reach saturation and it would keep rolling across the globe until it stabilizes out. I don't know how long that would take, but I think it might explain the astonishingly crappy weather we've been having lately.
Or I could be totally wrong and the two are completely unrelated. I could still be insane anyway, but not because of this.

So let me get this straight...you think the water that evaporated from the tsunami is causing rain in Indiana? What about all the water that evaporates from this crazy place called THE OCEAN on a daily basis??? And you have your PhD. Weird.
I guess you couldn't trouble yourself to read the entire post. That's ok. I did mention that it may have ramped up the water cycle, not that it's the sole contribution to all the rain here. I'm well aware that about 75% of the Earth's surface area is water, despite being in a mostly landlocked state in a really ignorant country. I actually did put a bit of effort into thinking about rational wind speeds and how long it would take for water vapor to travel from India to here, and it isn't completely out of the question. It would be interesting to see if there was a lot of rain west of here between the tsunami and when I posted, which would indicate an increase in the water cycle. (I'm too lazy and don't care enough to check. Feel free to do so yourself.) Then again, I could be totally wrong, like I already said. There was a hell of a lot of rain going on here at the point in time that I posted this, and I was just wondering why. Most people never do. I rarely do. Not that a PhD really means much. Trust me. I was me before I got one.
